Hippari Dako restaurant walls

In Nikko, we went to lunch at a teeny little place called Hippari Dako which is well-loved by Lonely Planet devotees, and has business cards and the like, complete with personalised messages, all over the walls. It was here that I had my first ever taste of sake, and what's more, I ordered it hot. After doing so, the delightfully friendly lady who worked as the waitress (she's definitely the reason that people love the place) looked a little shocked, but seemed to applaud my choice. The sake went perfectly with my lunch, but, having tried sake since returning to Australia, I am convinced that it's one of those things which seems better than it actually is simply because you're on holiday in an unusual location.
